IF WALLS COULD TALK Levi Mitchell (Dwight Schultz) is a scientist with a mission: to prove that ghosts don't exist. Lynda Tillman (Alberta Watson) is a grieving mother who needs to believe that her son has gone on to eternal rest, but his spirit haunts her. To find out once and for all what happened to her son Derek, Lynda asks Mitchell to investigate the house where Lynda believes her son met a violent death. Mitchell and Lynda investigate the house together, and while there, Lynda hears and sees her son Derek in a way that cannot be scientifically explained - at least not yet. The house is definitely "haunted", though by whom or what remains a mystery. Meanwhile, Lynda starts to penetrate Mitchell's stoic exterior and the two find that they have more in common than the pursuit of the supernatural. Mitchell's investigation uncovers the remains of a laboratory in the house where its owner apparently did biochemical research. Findings in the lab indicate the presence of an other worldly substance which may be causing the horrifying visions of human forms trapped behind the walls of the house. As the police re-open the investigation into Derek's disappearance, Mitchell learns that the substance in the house is a dangerous enzyme that is capable of killing humans, which then become gruesome manifestations within the house itself. Mitchell discovers that alcohol is the only way to fight the enzyme. When he arrives at the house to drench it in alcohol, Lynda is being devoured by a wall of the house, and soon Mitchell is also fighting for his life. The alcohol begins killing off the enzyme, causing the entire house to convulse and liquefy, leaving the remains of its victims, including Lynda. Faced with Linda's death, Mitchell finds the faith he needs revive her and start believing in life again.
