CORNER OF THE EYE
Father Anton Jonascu (Len Cariou) and Father John Royce (Justin Louis ) are priests who regularly help the homeless near their church. The suffering they see daily is wearing Jonascu down---he is even beginning to question his faith. One night when the police raid the area, beating and harassing the homeless, Janascu stumbles and hits his head. As an officer helps him up, the priest is horrified to see the face of a demon. He fears too much stress is causing him to hallucinate.Jonascu goes to the doctor for his injury, but what he learns is that he has inoperable brain cancer. Dr. Pallas (Chris Sarandon) gives the priest three months to live. Despite the devastating news, Jonascu returns to church to give the evening mass. Once again Jonascu sees a demon, this time it is in the congregation. Jonascu returns to the clinic to find himself surrounded by three demonsÑthe officer, a woman, and Dr. Pallas himself. They explain that they've come to earth to heal humanity's woes, but fear people will distrust them because they are aliens. They want Jonascu to be their spokesperson. To prove their sincerity the woman infuses Jonascu with energy, curing his tumor. She dies, but she has transferred her healing power to him. He spends the rest of the day at the clinic healing the sick and regaining his sense of purpose. Once the media gets hold of this, Jonascu becomes a celebrity overnight.Suspicious of the aliens' motives, the younger priest eavesdrops and hears their plan to save their own planet by siphoning off the earth's atmosphere. Enraged, he challenges the aliens, but they are physically stronger, and evil wins out.Distraught at the news of his friend's death, Jonascu decides to test his power over life and death. He touches Royce and miraculously brings him back to life. Meanwhile the aliens prepare for a press conference during which Jonascu is to endorse their purpose on earth. Jonascu arrives and confronts their demons with the truth that he knows they intend to destroy the earth. Royce appears and backs him up, and soon the alien attack. Jonascu again uses his power over life and death and kills them, but not without a price. Jonascu is fatally injured in the battle and dies in the arms of his friend.
